Beginning Yoga

In this program, you will learn to practice yoga at home with Amy Basnight, a seasoned yoga teacher and owner of Oyster Bay Yoga, a studio that specializes in working with beginners.

Do you find yourself driving past your local yoga studio over and over again, but never going in? Do your friends keep saying “you gotta try it!”? Do you feel like you’re just not flexible enough? Does part of you want to give it a try? But that little voice inside your head tells you once again, “It’s not for you, who are you kidding?”

I’m here to tell you that the images of yoga you see posted all over the internet, of scantily clad dancers doing contortions and holding each other in the air, are not accurate representations of what yoga is, and what it can be for you. There are so many different styles of yoga out there, and I’d love to show you a more reasonable one.

  • Learn to move in a way that makes you feel amazing

Maybe you’ve had a bad experience with studio yoga classes, maybe you’ve never tried it before, or maybe you’ve been practicing yoga in a way that no longer makes you feel good.

We’ll band together and really commit to moving our bodies, shifting our energy, and breathing our way through life’s ups and downs.

What to expect:

You’ll be guided through 4 full length yoga classes. We’ll start from the very beginning, and you’ll be able to move at your own pace through the program. A new video will be delivered to your inbox at the beginning of each week. It helps to do them in order, as they’ll build in challenge and intensity. We’ll be practicing a style of yoga called Vinyasa Flow. This just means that once you get the hang of the basic postures, you’ll move through them in rhythm with your breathing. This feels GREAT. At the end of the program, you’ll be able to download the videos, and keep them forever.
